Known in Galicia as Pita or Galiña, hens were the most popular domestic animal in the country. Every Galician farm and croft had chicken. Easy to keep, hens were a great source of food, consuming both their meat and their eggs. Hens are also at the core of one of Galicia's biggest business success stories: COREN, the multinational food group which hails from Ourense.
