Ortigueira Red Squirrel

Known in Galicia as Esquío, the squirrel is a likeable animal found in both broadleaf woodlands and coniferous forest such as Morouzos Fores, where many people go camping during the Ortigueira Celtic Music Festival. The red squirrel is native to Galicia, but its future is increasingly uncertain as the introduced American grey squirrel expands its range across the country.
