Known in Galician as Ourizo Cacho, the hedgehog is a much loved wild animal in Galicia.
With their small eyes, round ears, pointed snout and small legs, everybody finds the hedgehog to be one of the cutest wild animals in the country.
Hedgehogs are appreciated by Galician farmers as a powerful form of pest control, since they like to eat slugs, snails and insects.
The hedgehog is found all across Galicia, and most particularly in deciduous forests like the oak woodlands of County Ulloa in central Galicia.
